Daesh Genocide
in Iraq and Syria

DESCRIPTION

The self-proclaimed Islamic State (Daesh/ISIS) committed genocide and crimes against humanity against Yazidis, Christians, and other minorities, including mass killings, sexual slavery, and forced conversions.

From 2014, Daesh/ISIS launched a genocidal campaign against Yazidis, Christians, Shia Muslims, and other minorities in Iraq and Syria. Thousands were massacred, women and girls were enslaved and subjected to systematic sexual violence, children were abducted, and entire communities were displaced or destroyed. Survivors continue to suffer from trauma, displacement, and the destruction of cultural and religious heritage.

What has been done:

The Coalition supported documentation efforts, submitted evidence to UN mechanisms, and advocated for recognition of the genocide. It has pushed for accountability through UNITAD, national courts, and international advocacy campaigns.

Uygurs Genocide
in China

DESCRIPTION

Uyghurs and other Turkic minorities in Xinjiang face mass detention, forced sterilisation, cultural erasure, and widespread repression, amounting to crimes against humanity and genocide.

In Xinjiang, the Uyghur and other Turkic Muslim populations are subjected to mass arbitrary detention, indoctrination, forced sterilization, family separation, and cultural erasure. Reports document widespread sexual violence, torture, and the destruction of religious and cultural sites. The policies amount to crimes against humanity and genocide under international law.
